Use the app: Feed, Explore and Ask

What Feed, Explore and Ask each do, what every Explore view needs, the controls, and how bounce, unengaged and conversions differ.

The app has three places. Feed tells you what changed. Explore shows the tables behind it. Ask answers in plain English. Feed and Explore are free; only Ask uses credits.

Feed: what changed

Feed picks up to three findings for the site you have selected, ranked by how much they matter. It is rebuilt once a day, and findings you have already seen make way for new ones. A quiet week shows "A quiet week", which is a real answer: nothing moved enough to flag.

A finding can be about:

  • traffic, conversions or organic search changing;
  • paid performance, a new referrer, or a landing page;
  • an error spike, a broken page still getting visits, or slow pages;
  • a funnel leak, or AI crawlers visiting;
  • from the crawl: broken links, slow pages, pages with no title or meta description, duplicate titles.

Tap a finding to open it. Each one has a button that carries the question into Ask, already typed.

Before you install the pixel

A new site gets a Feed from the crawl alone: the four crawl findings above, plus a nudge to install the pixel. The first read of a new site can take a minute. Install the pixel from the install page and the traffic findings start.

Explore: the tables

Explore has 14 views, grouped by what you want to know. Open one and you get a table you can sort, filter and compare.

SubjectViews
TrafficSessions by day, sessions by source, ad spend and conversions
ConversionsTop converting pages, funnel drop-off by step, custom events, A/B test results
User behaviorMost visited pages, top landing pages
SearchGoogle search clicks
HealthErrors visitors hit, page speed by web vital, crawl results, broken pages still getting visits

What each view needs

  • The pixel: sessions, sources, pages, landing pages, conversions, events, errors, speed, funnels and A/B tests.
  • Search Console: the search view. Google Ads: the ads view. Both are on the connectors page.
  • The crawl only: crawl results work with no pixel at all.
  • A funnel you defined: the funnel view reads funnels your own agent created. See connect your agent.

Controls

  • Period: 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days.
  • Compare: puts the period beside the one before it and shows the change on each row.
  • Filters: by source (organic, direct, referral, social, AI) and device (desktop, tablet), plus the shortcuts #mobile and #paid.
  • Saved views: pin a view to keep it on your home. Views sit under Organic, Paid, Origin, Behavior and Health.

The address holds the view, period and filters. Copy it to reopen the same table, or share it with anyone who has access to the site.

Numbers that look alike

NameWhat it is
ConversionsVisits that did at least one conversion, counted once. See name your conversions.
Conversion eventsEvery conversion event, so one visit can add several.
Bounce rateVisits that saw one page. The classic figure, for comparing with other tools.
Unengaged rateVisits that did none of these: stay over 10 seconds, view 2 pages, convert, make a meaningful click, scroll halfway. The honest bad-visit rate.
Exit rateWhere visits end. Use it to find the leak in a funnel, because bounce is near zero mid-funnel.

Ask: the answer

Ask reads your numbers and writes the answer. It never changes anything. To set up something that keeps running, like a daily email or a funnel alert, use your own agent: see reports and alerts by email.
