# Reports and alerts by email

> Plaintext version for LLMs. Canonical HTML: https://askbowtie.com/docs/reports/

What askbowtie emails you: down alerts with no setup, scheduled reports, funnel alerts and watches that your own agent sets up.

Some things should reach you without you opening the app: a daily summary, a note when a funnel breaks, a warning when your site is down. This page covers what askbowtie emails you, what you set up, and what needs no setup at all.

## Down alerts need no setup

Every verified site is checked every 5 minutes. After two failed checks in a row, askbowtie emails the people with access to the site, and emails again when it recovers. If it is still down about 3 hours later you get one more reminder.

A site that goes down and up again and again does not flood you. After three outages inside 72 hours you get one "unstable" notice, then quiet until it settles.

## Scheduled reports

A scheduled report is a data email askbowtie sends on a timetable, with no agent session running. Each number comes with its change against the window just before it, like "Sessions 480 (up 12%)". The email carries the numbers and the arithmetic, not a story. Ask why a number moved and your agent can look.

You set one up by asking your own agent, because Ask only reads. See [connect your agent](/docs/mcp/). Try:

```
send me a daily email at 7am with traffic, conversions and errors for yesterday
```

The agent should show you a preview of the exact email first. Nothing is stored or sent until you agree.

| Choice | Options |
| --- | --- |
| Sections | Traffic, conversions, errors, search, ads, paid. Pick 1 to 10. |
| How often | Once on a date, daily, weekly (any weekday, Monday by default), or monthly (day 1 to 28). |
| When | A time of day in your time zone. The default is 09:00 UTC. |
| Data window | The last 24 hours, 7 or 30 days, up to 90 days, yesterday, or a date range. |
| Who gets it | People with access to the site. Leave it out and everyone with access gets it. |

### Good defaults

- **Daily pulse:** daily, window "yesterday", with traffic, conversions and errors. Yesterday is one complete day, so every section lines up.
- **Search goes weekly.** Search Console data arrives about two days late, so a daily search window reads empty. Use a weekly report with a 7 day window.

A site can have 10 active reports. Only the owner or an admin can create or cancel one; any member can list and preview.

## Funnel alerts

A funnel alert watches a funnel you defined and checks it every 15 minutes. It raises an alert and emails when the funnel goes wrong, and clears itself when it recovers. Ask your agent, for example:

```
alert me if signups drop 50% against normal over 24 hours
```

It can watch entries, completions, the completion rate, or a single step. A threshold is either a fixed number or a drop or rise against the window before. Alerts are damped so they cannot nag: recovery has to beat the threshold by 15%, and the same alert emails at most once every 24 hours by default. Every trigger is still recorded.

## Standing watches

A watch is like a funnel alert for other measurements, checked every hour. A watch emails no one unless you name recipients, so it stays a quiet record until you ask otherwise.

## See what is running

Ask your agent to list your scheduled reports and alerts, or to show recent alerts. Cancelling a report or deleting an alert is one more sentence to the agent.
